“Although I have facilitated many small groups in the past, including the No Regrets Study Series, I have never had the opportunity to start a Basecamp group. Last March that changed, when after much prayer and lots of coffee, seven men said yes to give six weeks a try. Being able to actively participate in Basecamp with these younger men over the last eight months, has been a continual “Jesus” showing up here, their, and everywhere in our lives.
The group consists of mostly younger men with children who are in the thick of it with the busyness that that stage brings. We have men who had lots of bible knowledge, but no heart penetration. We have men who are reading the Bible really for the first time. It has brought many tears to my eyes when I repeatedly see these men being transformed and changed forever.
For me? Although I may coordinate the meeting, and help move discussion along, I am an active participant who is continually being sharpened and refined by my new Band of Brothers. My charge to all those who may have gray hair, like me – younger men need you! They want a man who has more of life’s successes and failures under his belt. These guys don’t need perfect men, they just need faithful men who are willing to stand up and say – YES – I am committed to the mission of Jesus and I’ll step into their lives!”
Dan Fiorenza is a Ministry Specialist who oversees the discipleship resources. Dan led the Ministry to Men at his church for many years and is a graduate of Top Gun, a former discipling resource from No Regrets that helped transform his life. Prior to joining No Regrets, He was a Park and Recreation Administrator. Dan has been married for 34 years and has two adult children.
